The state of Arizona is demanding a refund for the days the Grand Canyon stayed open during the Government Shutdown

The state of Arizona is asking the government to pay them back!  During the government shutdown, the Grand Canyon stayed open numerous days, meaning several employees - plus maintenance costs all needed funding.  Being that the government is responsible for these costs, the state is now asking for a refund for the grand total of $465,000.  Wow!  Being that this has happened in the past, many moons ago, and the government agreed that it was their responsibility to fund during this time, I am, quite frankly, surprised that this has not already been taken care of.

Let's make sure our beautiful Grand Canyon receives the attention it deserves! And if you haven't been, you should go see it.  It is truly breathtaking.
