Facebook Turns 10

On February 4, 2004, "The Facebook" was introduced by Mark Zuckerberg out of his dorm room at Harvard University. It originally started as a site for college students to connect and build virtual relationships with one another. As time went on, more features were added to the site and its use went beyond that of just college students.

The layout of the site has experienced several changes throughout the years, but still continues to serve as an expression of one's self that allows people to share and connect. Social media marketing, including advertising through Facebook has been a huge hit for all and also brings in most of the company's revenue.

To celebrate its birthday and appreciate its users, Facebook has made a video representative of its users; people of all races and cultures are actively engaged in each other's lives with the use of Facebook. In addition to that, each user can watch "A Look Back", which highlights moments in their lifetime of using the site.

Today, the company is publicly traded and has reached one billion users across the world. What started out as just a college project turned into the identity of social media and its users. With the growing use of mobile apps and social media, Facebook continues to be an integrated part of people's lives.
