There is now around 102 billion mobile app to download from the market. The mobile app store will be very busy this year, because downloads is surging 60% over the 2012's volume. App store is set for a huge 2013 year, because of all the new apps. The company has revealed that total app downloads worldwide will hit 102 billion this year.
Next year, it has the possibility to jump to 139 billion apps and reach 268.7 billion apps in 2017. Free apps has always been popular, because they are accounting for 90% of all the downloads last year. It will be close to 95% for free apps in 2017. The two big companies that will dominate the mobile community is Apple's App Store and Android-based application marketplace. Together they should control about 90% of all the apps being downloaded in 2017. Brian Blau said "However, we expect average monthly downloads per iOS device to decline from 4.9 in 2013 to 3.9 in 2017, while average monthly downloads per Android device will decline from 6.2 in 2013 to 5.8 in 2017." They are expected to lose monthly downloads in 2017, which is not good. The people will try to download the same apps, instead of trying out new ones. It still looks good for the total app revenue, because it should hit $26 billion this year, up from $18 billion last year. Saying all of this the app store will be making more apps and getting more downloads, because they have so many new apps to choose from.
