Twitter lands a deal with the NFL

The NFL will promote ad-supported highlights and other clips throughout the season on Twitter. Twitter and the National Football League has teamed up to bring the most retweetable football news, highlights, and replays to a digital screen near you.

Well, NFL is going to the twitter as a partner to use their social network to display media and this should be great for all the Twitter users who love to watch football. This is a smart way for the NFL to advertise their sponsors inside of Twitter. There big clients like Verizon, which will get a short ad in the tweets. The promoted tweets will be distributed through the NFL Twitter handle and most will be published on game days for the rest of the season. Also they will have additional videos during the week. The tweets can vary from game replays, to analysis after the play, or fantasy football advice. The vice president of digital media business development for the NFL said that he expects the league's twitter drive to reach more than 20 million people. This is a big step with advertisement, because the NFL has been restrictive with the digital rights associated with its highly watched programming. All in all, this seems to be a good day for the sports world who wants to see clips and highlights on twitter.
