Huawei is Coming Through and Raising the Bar

Huawei is not a brand name that we hear too much about here in America.  I mean, yes most of us have heard of it, but it certainly isn’t on the top most popular brands.  In fact, the only reason I am more familiar with Huawei is from my overseas, travelling experiences.  It’s the cheap phone I buy every year while in Europe for a couple of months during the summer every year.

However, it seems that of late, Huawei has done some serious work in stepping up to the big game plate.   More specifically, Huawei has designed a new tablet that will give the very popular Nexus 7 some serious competition in the 7-inch tablet realm.  The tablet is to be called the Huawei MediaPad x1 7.0.  It has a1.920 x 1,200 display with an X1's 1.6GHz quad-core Hisilicon processor.  The Nexus has the SnapDragon S4 Pro though, so we will have to see which performs better.  Something that certainly does put the Huawei tablet a notch above the Nexus is how light it is – only 8.4 ounces and .3 inch thick.  For those who tote their gadgets with them everywhere, like me, know that light weight products are always desirable.

When is it coming out so that we can officially begin the actual physical comparison? The company is keeping us in the dark, with the simple answer “in the near future”.  I don’t know about you, but I sure am intrigued.
