Reading has always been a pastime that folks either love or hate. But let’s face it, if you want to be successful in the modern world especially, you need to be good at it. Virtually everyone reads. And for those who pleasure read (like me), there are a ton of apps made just for you. To name a few, there is the iBook, there is the Kindle App, Scribd, Oyster and many more. These are all great, but they mostly all do the same thing – they’re e-reader apps essentially. Some are good for book recommendations, which I like to take full advantage of, but they mostly perform the same function.
To change things up a little, there is a new application that I just got wind of called Spritz. Spritz is this great app centered around improved reading speed. In essence, it trains your eyes and brain to be able to take it words at a much faster rate. The App developers claim that with some practice, it’ll get the user at a 1000 words per minute rate.
So how does it work?
Starting off you’ll likely want to choose the slowest speed, which is the 250 words per min. The screen then flashes a single word at a time at the minute pace. There are little tips listed every so often, like if you relax you can actually read much faster. Once you’ve mastered that speed, simply change the option to a faster speed. It’s a great exercise in training your brain! I like the idea very much.
Now I’ve been a bookworm since the third grade, and I’ve been known to disappear into a book once it has started, so my reading speed it pretty high. But there is always room for improvement! I don’t know if I’d go as far as trying to read a novel through Spritz – seems like it would take the joy out of reading, but it is a great tool to grow your skills as a fellow bookworm – or aspiring bookworm!
While you’re exercising that noggin of yours, don’t let your battery die just as you start to pick up momentum! Stay charged with a Juno Power battery; find one following this link on our page or find us on Amazon!
