Redecorate without Spending a Fortune!

It always nice going home at the end of the day, but don't you always think it could be nicer? Not everyone can afford to remodel that dated kitchen or have a complete home makeover but there are a few changes you can make to improve the interior of your house without spending a ton of time or money! Here are a few tips and tricks you can use to freshen up your home and give it a different look without the hassle and cost of remodeling.

First of all, you should take a look at the style of your home. Some of us live in relatively newer homes and have a more modern looking interior while other live in older homes with more dated looks. If you've got a modern home, you'll have to easy as modern homes are usually more minimal and simple-looking inside so you can customize them more. Older homes on the other hand are a little harder to work with but can definitely be made to look more modern and chic with the right decor and color schemes.

Think about the accents you can add or take out of a room to change up the feeling. Some things to consider are:

-Curtains: You might have a really nice, big, open window that's being covered by some drab or dated curtains. Take a peek and see what the window looks like with some different curtains, maybe some lighter ones or some heavier ones. Changing the curtains will change the entire lighting of the room and can potentially ruin or make a room.

-Walls: Look at the condition of your walls. Are they still painted pink from when you were in 6th grade? Or still painted olive green from that Mediterranean couple that lived in your flat before you? Painting your walls may not be an option for everyone, but it really isn't as hard or expensive as you'd think. If you can't paint your walls or just choose not to, a tapestry might be the way to go. There are thousands of different designs out there, you've just got to look around. Changing up the colors and patterns of your walls can really make a difference in the feeling the room gives off.

-Carpet/ Rug: Pay attention to the floor! It might seem like it is not important but it really is! If you've got hardwood floors, take advantage of the opportunity to get a rug on the floor. This can add a lot of character and warmth to a cold, empty room. If your floors are carpeted, make sure to add furniture and decor accordingly. You don't want your walls clashing with your carpet color! It also might pay off to get those carpets steamed. You may not notice it, but if you don't clean your carpets often, the dirt does build up over time. Cleaning those carpets will freshen up the appearance of the room!

-Lighting: If you've got a crazy chandelier in your room, you've got to decide if its working for you or against you. It might be time to take that think to the antiques store or dust it down and add a complimentary lamp into the room. Like wise, if the lighting in your room is not pleasing, you might want to pick up a couple inexpensive lamps to change the mood of the room. Bad lighting can be the most irritating thing in a living space!
